Community Relations
Corporate Social Responsability
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept, which has traditionally encouraged corporations and the private sector in general to consider the interests of society by taking responsibility for the impact of its activities on customers, employees, shareholders, communities and the environment in all aspects of their operations.
The developers of Hacienda El Dorado see this obligation as extending well beyond the statutory obligation to comply with Costa Rican legislation and voluntarily take further steps to improve the quality of life for employees and their families as well as for the local community and society at large.
Economic Development
During the construction phase of the Hacienda El Dorado development, the company will contribute to the local community directly by hiring local residents. Once the project is completed, employment opportunities for local residents will be maintained particularly in the areas of gardening, security, maintenance and housekeeping services. Indirectly, demand for a wide range of services provided by local residents will be fostered particularly in the areas of private education, food/dining and transportation. The developers are also improving general infrastructure by installing street lighting and sidewalks along the access road to Hacienda El Dorado. Perhaps most importantly, the development of Hacienda El Dorado in Rio Oro will inevitably cause land value appreciation in the area thus directly benefiting small property owners in the area.
Implementation of Programs
Hacienda El Dorado is exploring opportunities for partnerships and cooperation with non-profit organizations active in the community of Rio Oro. This will permit the identification of pressing local needs and the design of solutions to address those. Residents at Hacienda El Dorado are invited to learn about the specific programs funded and if they so desire, they can become directly involved in the programs’ implementation as volunteers.
Funding
The above programs will be funded by a $10.00 contribution fee –part of the monthly condominium fee to be paid by each one of the 100 residences at Hacienda El Dorado, thus ensuring $12,000.00 in direct contributions over a period of at least 5 years ($60,000.00).
