About El Dorado
Why this Development is Unusual
The Hacienda El Dorado development philosophy is centered on the concept of a lifestyle resort community, where luxury living in a safe and secure resort setting with quality homes and reliable technology goes hand in hand with peace, tranquility, nature and ample resort amenities and on-site services facilitating social interaction among the residents.
Besides the development philosophy, there is a number of critical factors differentiating Hacienda El Dorado from all other residential developments in the Central Valley and perhaps in all of Costa Rica.
First of all, there is product design flexibility. The developers have designed twelve model homes ranging from single family residences to multi-family duplexes, 4-plexes, 6-plexes, 8-plexes and one 5 story apartment building. Each home can be further customized to expand living areas, terraces, add bedrooms, built-in furniture and other optional upgrades. This kind of a flexibility combined with moderate prices is unheard of in Costa Rica.
Second, the resort is being developed along the headwaters of Rio Oro in the foothills of the southern mountain range dividing the San Jose Central Valley area from the Pacific coast. With over 60% of the property being green areas, expansive tropical gardens, flowers and orchids everywhere along with the omnipresent sounds of running water, Hacienda El Dorado is like a refuge, a place to escape from the chaos and noise of the city.
Community: A Forgotten Concept
Buying real estate is not just about the building itself, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the quality of construction and finishes and optional built-in furniture upgrades. For those individuals looking for a new home in which they intend to live, the decision whether to invest or not in a particular piece of real estate should be formed by a wide range of other factors. These may often involve considerations pertaining to climate (weather, temperatures, humidity, etc.), proximity and accessibility of health care services (dental clinics, hospitals, etc.), quality and availability of services (banking, vehicle repair, grocery stores, restaurants, movie theaters, gyms, spas, etc.) and general infrastructure (roads, public transportation, etc.) among others. Santa Ana offers all of the above – some of the best restaurants, health care facilities, schools and commercial centers in a moderate climate year round in a rapidly growing area experiencing economic growth and expansion unprecedented in the Central Valley. Yet, we are convinced that Hacienda El Dorado offers something else, something that is often forgotten and missing in the original design of other residential compounds: a sense of community.
Moving to a new place can be a daunting experience and when that new place is in a foreign country, the challenges can seem overwhelming. Not being completely fluent in Spanish, not having an established circle of family and friends, not knowing how to get around, where to go shopping, which number to call in case of medical emergency are just some of the issues and challenges that can become source of more than one frustration. Under such circumstances, the value of having a network of friends, a knowledge base of others who have “been there, done that” is not to be underestimated. Hacienda El Dorado with its common areas has been designed to facilitate interaction among our residents in order to create that new feeling of home and community conducive to forming new friendships, traveling partners, new dinner guests, golfing, fishing and shopping buddies, etc. In short, at Hacienda El Dorado, you not only have a new home in a new country; you also will find new friends with whom to explore and enjoy Costa Rica.
Eco-Friendly
Over the past year, the developers have carried out an extensive research study of the land to make the best use of the views and minimize impact on environment. All tree species have been inventoried and the site has been designed to respect their individual location. The rule of the 10-meter setback from the river is respected throughout the construction. All black water be treated and recycled for irrigation purposes. All utilities will be installed underground. All wood used in construction originates from sustainable forests in Costa Rica. No endangered species will be used as all wood comes from managed forest lots. Thousands of indigenous plants will be used throughout the garden areas. Home waste and garbage will be recycled with organic waste being composted. Once the municipality inaugurates a fully fledged recycling program, Hacienda El Dorado will be ready to participate immediately.
A Lifestyle Resort Community
Third, Hacienda El Dorado is not simply a residential complex. Hacienda El Dorado is a lifestyle resort community implying the presence of a wide range of resort amenities such as swimming pools, ample common social areas and sports facilities. In addition to the amenities, the resort also provides on-site services to facilitate the comfort and peace of mind of its residents. A fully staffed on-site property management and rentals office will be responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance of both the residences and common areas.
Who is likely to buy at El Dorado?
We expect El Dorado will be attractive to an international community —Costa Ricans, Canadians, people from the USA, Europeans, and other Latin American countries: Argentineans, Venezuelan, Brazilians, etc. English and Spanish will be the working languages of El Dorado. Communications —written and verbal— will be in both languages.
Legal Structure
Unlike Residencias Los Jardines, Hacienda El Dorado will be a traditional condominium according to the laws of Costa Rica. All of our legal documentation is available both in English and Spanish. This allows both Spanish and English speaking/reading purchasers a comfort level not usually available in Costa Rica. The legal counsel we have retained is fluent in both languages.
